The pandemic exacerbated the sexual exploitation of children in Hawai’i and across the country. A crisis of this magnitude can only be addressed when we raise collective advocacy and ensure youth have access to the services they need to heal. Exploited children need specialized programming and a comprehensive continuum of care that understands the vulnerable origins and circumstances of their exploitation. This is essential to their healing in order to avoid revictimization once they reintegrate back into society. While this is a new and progressive approach, case studies confirm HNP’s effectiveness.
