SHINE THE LIGHT

From the very beginning, Ho’ōla Nā Pua’s mission has been clear—heal, educate, and empower. What started as a small, determined effort grew into something much larger, touching lives in ways we could have only dreamed of. Through the tireless work of our team and the generosity of our supporters, the first few years saw the birth of programs that became lifelines for youth trapped in a cycle of trauma and exploitation.
These early programs weren’t just ideas—they were real, tangible solutions that helped children reclaim their futures. The voices of the youth we served began to rise above the noise, filled with hope and the possibility of a life free from exploitation. And it was all possible because of the steadfast dedication of those who believed in our mission from the start. Together, we reached farther, touched more lives, and began to turn the tide.

SHINE THE LIGHT

It all started with a vision and a heart that couldn’t turn away. Jessica Munoz, a nurse who witnessed the trauma and injustice children endured in the emergency room, saw innocent victims treated like criminals—voiceless and stripped of their dignity. Unable to ignore their suffering, Jessica knew she had to act. From that moment, a deep well of compassion ignited a fire within her to bring hope and healing to those who needed it most.

From this compassion, Ho’ōla Nā Pua was born. What began as a small flicker of determination grew into a powerful movement to protect, heal, and restore. Jessica’s unwavering belief that every child deserves a chance at healing laid the foundation for an organization that shines a light on the dark issue of child sexual exploitation. Her courage built a community of advocates and supporters, offering safety, love, and a future to children who had been abused. Through Ho’ōla Nā Pua, that light continues to grow, offering hope to vulnerable children across Hawaii and beyond.
